Temporomandibular Disorders

Specialized treatment for jaw pain and temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) involve problems related to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the joint connecting the lower jaw to the skull, as well as the muscles involved in chewing. These conditions may significantly affect daily life by causing pain and jaw dysfunction.

Common symptoms include pain in the jaw area or around the ear, clicking or popping sounds during mouth movement, difficulty chewing, limited jaw movement, headaches, and muscle fatigue in the facial area. In some cases, symptoms may be associated with stress or bruxism (clenching or grinding of the teeth).

Diagnosis is based on detailed medical history, clinical examination, and, when necessary, imaging studies. Treatment is usually conservative and personalized, including physical therapy, custom mouth guards, medication, and habit modification.

In more severe or persistent cases, specialized intervention may be required. The goal of treatment is to relieve pain, restore normal jaw function, and improve the patient’s overall quality of life.
