Lip Lift is achieved with the removal of a small portion of the skin between the contour of the upper lip and the base of the nose. This way, this distance is shortened, and the upper lip becomes "fuller" and regains its youthful firmness.  

On a face with harmonious features, the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip is about 12 to14 centimeters, while the distance between the upper and the lower lip should be about 2 millimeters, namely big enough to show off more of the upper teeth. The deviations of these distances are corrected with lip lift. In particular, the following are achieved with this minor procedure:

- Enhancement of the sensual look of the upper lip through its lift, increase of its volume and teeth showing off more.

- Increase in the pink hue of the upper lip.

- Reduction of lines and wrinkles at the upper lip.

How is lip lift performed?

Lip lift is a simple and quick procedure for an experienced plastic surgeon.

It is performed under local anesthesia, and it does not cause the patient any discomfort.

The plastic surgeon makes some measurements and a small incision at the base of the nose follows. Then, he elevates the skin, trims the excess, and sutures it with delicate sutures.

The entire procedure lasts from 45 minutes to one hour.

Recovery – When the effects are finalized
After a lip lift procedure, most of the times patients can return home without the help of another person. The doctor will give you post incision care instructions, and advice for the following days.  The basics you should do are to:

• sleep on your back with your head elevated and with a high pillow

• avoid yelling and pronounced yawn

• avoid alcohol consumption and smoking  

• limit your diet to soft foods
Cool patches and maybe a cream will reduce any oedema and speed up the healing process.

The sutures are removed after 5-7 days, when you can return to your usual activities.

Once the oedema recedes, you will be able to enjoy the effects. However, it will take 3-4 for the effects to be finalized.

Yes! Lip lift offers permanent effects. This is one of the main differences between the lip lift procedure and the effects achieved with hyaluronic acid or Botox.

The incision is made under the base of the nose, the sutures used are very small and on the natural skin fold. No incision scar is visible after healing.

If you want more luscious lips, lip lift can be combined with hyaluronic acid. To be sure of the effects, you’d better wait for a while after the procedure, for your lips to get their final look.
